How it works

The sport

Teams of nonliving objects — lumps, tubes, beans, pucks, eggs and noodles — are released at the top of a course. Gravity moves them. Their shape, their line, their luck and each other decide the rest. First to the bottom wins. That is the entire rulebook.

There is no control scheme. Nobody drives anything. You watch, and you argue.

What is public

Everything that has ever happened. Finishing positions, split times by course section, results by venue, results by surface, results in championship rounds, results in crowded fields, head-to-head records, contact counts, recovery times, positions gained and lost.

Sample sizes are always shown, because a three-event split is a coincidence.

What is hidden

Every Gravity Boy has a permanent hidden profile — how it accelerates, how it holds a line, how it handles carpet, whether it goes to pieces in a final. None of it is ever published. Not on the competitor page, not in commentary, not anywhere.

Which means some reputations in this league are correct, some are the exact opposite of correct, and some can never be settled. That is the game.

What you do

  • One free public call per event. Timestamped, permanent, and impossible to edit afterwards. Builds your analyst rating whether or not you have a chip to your name.
  • One primary bet. Play money only. There is no way to buy it, sell it or cash it out.
  • One friend challenge. Direct head-to-head inside your group.
  • One team. Adopt it, defend it, and be seen betting against it.

Going broke does not end anything

Three separate things are tracked: chips you can spend, an analyst rating you cannot spend, and points inside your friend group. A player with nothing left can still win their group's season on the strength of their calls alone.

Below a floor, a fictional sponsor tops your bankroll back up. It will not make you rich, but it will keep you in the room.

Fair by construction

When an event is scheduled the server draws a secret random seed and publishes a hash of it immediately. After the event the seed is revealed and anyone can check the hash. The simulation is deterministic, so that seed plus that course plus that field can only produce one result.

Nobody can look at the betting and adjust the outcome. There is no code path that would let them.
